New Texas Hold’Em Variation To Be Offered In Vegas

Texas Hold’Em poker players in Las Vegas are in for a treat. The Nevada Gaming Commission has approved a new variation of the popular game to be played in the casinos along the strip. Royal Hold’Em is already being touted as the ‘world’s fastest poker game’ and it is being marketed by New Poker, LLC out of Las Vegas. It is the company’s first foray into live casino and poker room play and they are hoping that it paves the way for other poker variations that they are developing.

Royal Hold’Em is played by the same rules as Texas Hold’Em poker, but instead of using a full 52 card deck, only 20 cards will be available – 10s through Aces. One game can be played between two to six players who will follow the same betting schedule as the standard Hold’Em variation including head to head play against the players and no betting against the house.

According to poker pro Scott Fishman on playing with only the twenty face cards, “Hands are obviously higher and just about every player always bets to the flop. A lot of hands are won on the last card dealt and a Royal Flush or a bad beat can happen with the turn of a card. It’s a hot game.”

The game is appealing to players because it allows for more bets to be made and fewer hands to be folded. The pots are larger, the game play quicker, and there is more excitement among the players all around. As more and more younger players are discovering the fun in poker, there is a call for more action at the table. Veteran players are enjoying the fact that Royal Hold’Em offers them more play variety.

New Poker, LLC is relatively new to the poker community. So far they have proven their worth as an innovative gaming company, creating, testing, and marketing new games that are proving popular with the video game crowd. With the addition of traditional poker players being added to the mix, the company is already seeking a way to introduce more games to live casinos and poker rooms. They have a patent approved for another Hold’Em variation called ‘No River Hold’Em’ which allows ten players to compete against each other at a table. Once again it is played following the standard Texas Hold’Em rules with a 52 card deck, but players are dealt three cards instead of two and there is no river community card dealt. This game allows for a larger starting hand variety.

The company has already secured the distribution rights to a large selection of proprietary table games and they are working on distributing and licensing them to both online and live casinos.

New Hampshire Poker Bill Benefits State Players

New Hampshire House members may actually make their casino players considerably happier if the new compromise poker tax is passed. The House Bill is proposing to increase the maximum bets made at the state’s casinos from $2 to $5, considerably lower than what the initial levy proposed. The bill has already passed the Senate and is now in the House for consideration.

The bill proposes a tax on daily poker rooms in the state of 3% on what is collected from the players in rakes and other fees. The initial bill was 10% and had it been passed, many of the poker rooms would’ve permanently closed their doors due to the recession in progress in the country. The compromise tax is designed to help pay for the tax without hurting the casinos too much. It is also going to help the states Pari-Mutuel Commission oversee the fairness of all of the card games that are being planned.

Currently, charitable organizations will still receive the 35 percent net profit that they earn on poker games. “Charitable gaming has become big business in New Hampshire,” state Senator D’Allesandro said. “Some people put it at $75 million to $100 million. We certainly want charitable gaming to prosper, but we need oversight. This bill puts in a number of employees to do the auditing.”

The tax structure, if the bill is approved, will be similar to that used for the state’s Bingo and Lucky 7 games. There is a clause in the bill that allows higher bets and many of the casinos general managers are all too happy to accept it and that the charitable cuts will remain the same. Prize payouts on all the poker games will still remain at the current 80%.

The state’s racetrack hosts the largest poker room in the state and charges $2,000 a day to the poker company that puts on the games. The track is not receiving any money in profits for it, but they do benefit from the hundreds of people that come to the racetrack everyday that would not normally attend. By hosting the games, the racetracks may just be able to help build an acceptance of expanded gambling in the state.
